Storytelling:Oral Tradition
In this English Language Arts class we will be doing a unit on writing and speaking, and within this unit we will discover the art of Oral Tradition through storytelling. Through this lesson we will be expanding our literacy skills by looking at written text, listening to stories, and interpreting stories through art and dance. Storytelling is very important to all different culture groups, letting us gain an understanding for cultures that may be different than ours. I will be inviting visitors into the classroom that will be sharing their unique stories with us! Some of them will dance, sing, and tell a story through their hands! We will also be taking a field trip to the Cleveland Museum of Art on our very own tour to learn about the Myths and Stories in Art. What makes a good story? How will you tell your story? How is our world different now than century's past? Will your story be told through dance, or will it be told through an online journal or blogg, or through other digital media? Keep these questions in mind as you will be developing your very own story!
